Gemini app now available for Android users in the Philippines

Download Google's Gemini app on the Play Store.

Google’s Gemini app is now available for Android users in the Philippines. After its initial run in the US and select countries, the app can be downloaded from the local Play Store.

Gemini is Google’s largest and most capable AI model with the ability to tackle diverse tasks like creative writing, code generation, and complex problem-solving. Previously, users in the Philippines could only access Gemini via its website or Google Assistant.

Take note that if you have updated your Google Assistant into Gemini via this method, you will have two instances of the app on your phone. I didn’t notice any problem with either so you can keep them both.

On Android, the Gemini mobile app is compatible with non-folding devices, as well as Samsung and Pixel foldables, with at least 4GB of RAM, running Android 12 and up.

If the app is still unavailable in your country, you can try accessing gemini.google.com on your browser. You can also try to activate it on Google Assistant.

Once you have Gemini up and running, there are some things you should be aware of:

  • Double-check the results for accuracy. AI chatbots are prone to hallucinations. Gemini is no exception.
  • Don’t rely on Gemini for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
  • You are responsible for your use of code, which may be subject to an open-source license.
